Bags Made from Grubentuch

Grubentuch – the rugged checked cloth from the coal mines of Germany's Ruhr region. Miners wrapped their lunch in it, wiped coal dust from their faces and dried off after their shift – the bold check simply made the dirt disappear. Today this hard-wearing cotton-and-half-linen fabric is woven at the LWL Museum Weaving Mill in Münster. We sew it into our bags: durable, long-lasting and full of history – each one a one-of-a-kind with real mining heritage.
